'And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.... And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.”'
St Luke records Jesus' first call to specific disciples and the importance of humility for his followers. Andrew and Peter had already met Jesus and likely knew of Jesus' power and authority. When Jesus uses that power to directly bless the fishermen, Peter humbly acknowledges his unworthiness. Peter, Andrew, James, and John leave everything to follow Jesus.

Safe Ministry Training
All volunteers must have completed the on-line Level 1 training before the end of February. This includes sidespeople, readers, adult choir members, those who assist with refreshments, including SACPA committee members and volunteers. Angela Alomes, our Parish Administrator, will be in touch to provide each person with a link to individually complete this training. If you are unable to use this computer facility, please let Angela know immediately and other options will be canvassed.
Unless this training is undertaken you will, unfortunately, have to be removed from the next roster until the training is complete.
Some of the ways in which the Safe Ministry requirements (which covers children and other vulnerable people) play out at St Andrew's is:
adults must not have individual contact or conversations with children that are not their own, unless they have to express consent of that child's parent;
all communication (phone or sms or email) with people under 18 must be through their parents, not directly;
adults cannot attend Kids' Church services unless their children are also attending or unless they are part of the Kids' Church team;
only the clergy or our Child Safety Officers may give access to the toilets for children, unless the child is accompanied by their parent;
parishioners must not take people home, as it then places the driver in a vulnerable position which the Parish's insurance does not cover.
