Pentecost 17

A 12th century illumination of Sapientia (Wisdom). Wisdom is the central figure, between the figures of Christ (above), Zechariah, father of John the Baptist and the patriarch Jacob (below), David and Abraham, Malachi and Balaam, Isaiah, and Daniel (to the left and right, respectively).

On Sunday at the 10am service, we farewell our Year 12 Choral Scholars, who have had input into the choice of music for their final service as a St Andrew’s Chorister. We thank them for the joy they have brought us over many years and we wish them every success in their upcoming VCE exams.

Synod representatives

We need to elect 2 Synod representatives for the Melbourne Synod to be held on 9-12 October, primarily on-line. If you are interested in attending as a representative of St Andrew's then please let me know. If overwhelmed by volunteers, then we will have a formal election during next week's 10am service notices, otherwise I will simply announce the names of nominations as elected.

Moon cake festival

Friday evening saw a colourful pageant performed in the church, a festival which dates back over 3,000 years in China. Many thanks to Mthr Xev and Johnson for organising this for us and the Bayside Chinese Community.

Baptisms

Congratulation to Willow and Ben who were baptised last Sunday.

Hot water

We have a new hot water heater in the Narthex kitchen, many thanks to parishioner who donated the funds to make this replacement possible.

Parish Hall refurbishment

Next week a refurbishment of the Parish Hall (formerly the small hall) commences with the replacement of the frosted window glass and the re0roping of the windows so that we can get access to fresh air. The hall will subsequently be repainted, the ceiling repaired and new blinds installed in the hall and choir room. The last stage will be the replacement of the carpet with carpet tiles.
